About Rusty

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Georgia with over 26 years of experience specializing in co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. Having begun my career in 1994 at Inner Harbour Hospital, I  have held various clinical and administrative roles, including Director of Substance Abuse and Mental Health for the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles, RSAT State Director, and Vice President of Clinical Services at St. Jude’s Recovery Center (Ascensa Health). My passion and dedication stems from my own journey of recovery from alcohol, drugs, and mental health issues, including depression and trauma. My experiences, coupled with witnessing the struggles of individuals and families affected by addiction, especially the loss of loved ones to overdose and suicide motivate me to serve as a conduit for the healing and that I have received. Currently, my focus is on private practice, conducting substance abuse and mental health evaluations within the metro Atlanta area while also providing therapy services. In addition, he serves part-time with The Extension, further demonstrating my commitment to making a positive impact in the community. Being asked to be a part of The Never Alone Clubhouse and working with the Executive Director Jocelyn Wallace and others who have led the way is an honor, but also a privilege to be able to be a part of a more grassroots experience of giving back what was so freely given to me.
